## Overview
---
The gold badges bearing a unique symbol can be seen on the sleeves of every Transelman citizen. Its combination of icons represents a very important part of the country’s history.
## History
---
The logo on the emblem was conceived during the [[Transelman Civil War]], and first used by [[Yemisi Fayowa]]’s [[Voromiraka]] faction as the icon of their signature maroon standard.

After the war, it was preserved as the official state emblem of the new country, most commonly taking the physical form of a badge, but still maintaining a presence on some ceremonial regalia and other relics from the wartime era.
## Iconography
---
#### Lumen's Sigil
The symbol at the top is the sigil of Lumens, first Elman Saint. It represents [[Transelmany|Transelmany]]’s status as true successor to the teachings of Lumens, and not the warped doctrine of the Royals. The [[Church of Light (Transelmany)|Church of Light]] also uses this symbol on its emblem, as it represents [[Flux|Lumination]] flux.

The symbol in the middle, of a reversed black triangle cresting an elongated pentagon, has represented the [[Hagioism|Hagioist]] movement in South Elmany and beyond for decades. An abstract icon created by Fayowa herself, it was originally used as a signature to bookend all her written works.
#### Hagioist Icon: Pentahagio
The two amorphous shapes on either side of the hagioist symbol are similarly abstract, representing the boundless energy of the flux and its dual light and dark natures— contrasted with the monolithic view of the Royal Elman Church, which sees dark flux as an evil aberration.

#### Reversed Crown
The reversed crown is a more obvious symbol: the permanent & continuous suppression of the monarchy and all reactionary elements within the church and within the country, proving that their authority will never return to the South of Elmany.

This upturned four-pointed crown, in addition to becoming an iconic shorthand for Transelmany, has also come to represent Orthodox Hagioism & [[Hagioism|Hagioism-Fayowaism]] even in places that are not currently governed by monarchy, such as the Ankylan Hagioist Party.

These three elements in combination would come to represent in whole Fayowa’s interpretation of Orthodox Hagioism; and would be incorporated into the iconography of the [[Transelman Church of Saints]], as seen in the founding document of the country’s Proclamation.

## Modern Iterations
---
Today, a simplified form of the wartime flag remains the official national flag. Versions with just the reversed crown or with an enlarged icon are often also used to represent Transelmany in educational material, but official construction sheets place it in the top corner.

The icon is proudly worn by Transelmans, but many of them also strongly identify with the symbology and colors of their home [[Dioceses of Transelmany|dioceses]], most of which were derived from the national Transelman version, which also doubles as the emblem for Light diocese capital region.

The emblem’s body is most commonly a gold badge in the general shape of a hagioist pentagon but with a rounded top edge, cornered bottom, and incut side edges. The Transelman people emblazon it on the right sleeves of all their clothing, while Saints do so on their left sleeves.
