*25, 100 and 10 Transelman karat coins*
The *Transelman karat* is the currency of [[Transelmany]]. It was introduced in 658 AL after the [[History of Transelmany — Foundation & Protracted Rebellion (648-658 AL)#658 AL|Treaty of Haal]] as a modified version of the [[Old Elmany|Old Elman]] karat, and has remained in use ever since. Karats are issued by the Transelman [[People's Commissariats of Transelmany|Finance Commissariat]], and produced at its main headquarters in Sylens and its northern branch in Yemisiilu. As it was the former currency of the Elman Kingdom that spanned the continent, a few other contemporary countries also have currencies called *karats*, including the [[Ciselmany|Ciselman]] Kingdom and the [[Vostok|Vostok Basilica Republic]].

## Overview
One of the goals of [[Hagioism]] is to build a cashless society. Despite this, the need for money itself still persists. Transelman monetary policy is geared towards the subsidization of consumer goods and state control of all productive industry, but the commercial activity had already matured into legal tender by the time of the Royal Elman Kingdom.
## History
The *TKR* was created after the Treaty of Haal by then-Water Bishop Victoria Bishop with a reset value (100 grams of solid gold) as the de jure official currency of Transelmany. But once the [[Transelman Civil War]] broke out and the nation transitioned to *War Hagioism*, the Old Elman karat remained in use as de facto legal tender as the capacity to mint more coins was severely limited: it wasn’t until after the war that mass production of the *TKR* could start, and the currency could be widely adopted.
Notably, Ciselmany still uses the Old Elman *karat* (EKR) as its currency, but its circular coinage prevents any confusion with other version.
