## Overview
---
The Church of Poles is a diocese in [[Transelmany]]. It is located directly east of the [[The Green|Green]]. Like the [[Church of Stone|Stone]], the Church of Poles has a large mining industry, but of iron ore and other metals, not precious stones. Its capital, Polaris, is the smithing hub of the nation.
Its geography is similar to the other prairie dioceses, mostly featuring savanna and a small region of Sahel close to the [[Velsh Union|Velsh]] border. Most of its population, like the [[Church of Lightning|Lightning]] and [[Church of Wind|Wind]], is inlands.
Under the monarchy, this region was known as Ferra and bore the brunt of the demand for metalworking, with workers facing very harsh conditions. As with other similar dioceses, this is no longer the case. It was the furthest the [[Voromiraka]] went before [[Yemisi Fayowa|Fayowa]] split up their forces in order to take the [[History of Transelmany — Foundation & Protracted Rebellion (648-658 AL)|Protracted Rebellion]] into the prairie and the south coast. It would became a frontier of the [[Transelman Civil War]], when the Sofiaraka assaulted its southeastern border with the [[Church of Lightning|Lightning Diocese]] and tried to siege Polaris. After the war ended, it was rebuilt and resumed its mining activities, with much less harsh conditions for the workers under the watchful eye of the Basilicas.
Today, it doesn’t receive many visitors, but it still plays an important role for Transelmany, continuing to produce the majority of the nation’s metal: including the alloyed gold badges affixed to all Transelman-produced clothing.
