![[water_dio_sigil.jpg|400]] ## Overview --- The Church of Water is a diocese in [[Transelmany]]. It is the third largest diocese by population, after the [[Church of Light (Transelmany)|Light]] and the [[Church of Fire|Fire]]. Its capital city, Port Mera, is located in the heart of the Styx Delta. The oldest city in South Elmany, it is world famous for its huge network of canals and inland waterways. The city of Lake District in its northern region overlooks Lake Sofia, the largest freshwater lake on Kedavaara. It was famous for being the headquarters of the Sofiaraka during the [[Transelman Civil War]], which was also never actually captured by the [[Voromiraka]]. Under the monarchy, the Lakelands (as the Water Diocese was known) was marked by stark wealth inequality, with a few wealthy Lords maintaining control over access to the River Styx, and charging levies for entry and traversal. It was a key source of indirect income for the Crown. Today, the Church of Water is still the most prosperous region of the country, with that wealth now distributed equally. But this prosperity makes it an easy target for agitation from counterrevolutionaries and reactionaries, especially in its northern Lake District.
